Nondestructive Evaluation Technician

Job Description:

Requires sitting for extended periods of time in meetings with peers, management, and with our client at MSFC facilities to discuss technical issues (20%). Also, requires sitting at a desk to write reports and perform engineering task activities (80%). Work will be performed on-site at NASA/Marshall Space Flight Center (100%). Use of stairs or elevators can gain access to buildings.

Required Skills and Education:

2 years of college and 2 years of experience as a nondestructive testing technician (or an equivalent combination of education/experience for a total of 4 years) is required. Nondestructive Testing (NDT) Technician to support ARES I and ARES V development work as well as general NASA program tasks. Certification or ability to meet all requirements for eddy current level II certification according to NAS-410 is required. Principally performed eddy current inspections (more than 20 hours/week) for at least 2 of the past 5 years is required. Current or previous level III eddy current certification is desired. Experience inspecting aerospace hardware is desired. Qualification under NAS-410 as a level II in additional nondestructive evaluation methods is desired.
