Safety, Reliability and Quality Engineer

Job Description:

Support the design, development, integration, test, and flight of the Ares I-X Flight Test Vehicle as the Safety, Reliability, and Quality Assurance representative for the Avionics Integrator Services (AIS) subcontract. Provide guidance and oversight to the AIS subcontract with emphasis on system safety and quality assurance. Guide and support the development of hazard analyses, fault trees, FMEA/CIL, and limited life items list for phased program reviews. Conduct and support periodic audits of subcontractor quality system. Guide and support the development, review, and acceptance of the acceptance data package(s) for subcontractor hardware and software. Support and provide guidance/disposition for subcontract material review boards. Aid in the disposition of GIDEP Alerts, waivers, deviations, and discrepancy reports. Ensure all hazard controls are verified and hazard analyses reports are complete/closed. Aid in the development and approval of the Certification of Flight Readiness. .

Required Skills and Education:

• BS degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace or Systems Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited institution with a minimum of 8 years applicable experience is required
• Thorough understanding of system safety hazard analysis, reliability analysis, and quality assurance practices for NASA or DoD programs required
• Working knowledge of ISO 9000 or AS9100 is required. Experience with launch vehicles is highly desired. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. A self motivated, team player is required
